Captain Craig McDonough is assigned to Special Ops Command, the branch of the Air Force that handles special missions and unconventional warfare activities for the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He is the commander of the Joint Unconventional Warfare Task Force, responsible for gathering intelligence on terrorist threats, developing and coordinating covert actions to counter terrorism in war zones, and training other countries on unconventional warfare tactics. He is also responsible for training some of America's elite soldiers in unconventional combat techniques. Captain McDonough manages some of the highest risk missions in the world. His job is crucial to ensuring that this country stays secure while fighting a war on two fronts: One against terrorist groups like Al Queda and one against the Taliban. Captain McDonough attended the Air Force Academy and then graduated from Squadron Officer School. He began his career as an F-16 fighter pilot and served at the Air Force Academy where he became an instructor in military tactics. Later, he received a degree from the Defense Language Institute and was able to speak French and Russian. He also became a certified "SERE" (Survive, Evade, Resist and Escape) instructor. SERE is a training program designed to prepare special operations personnel for capture by enemy forces.
